Description

Many workers, men in hats and dark clothes and women in headscarves and long dresses, dig with spades in a deep cut in dry, stony hillside soil. A wooden cart stands on rails in the foreground, and a small hut sits on the slope above. Some workers stand on the upper level while others work at the foot of the cut.
