Description

A vertical soil section forms the main face of an excavation trench, with several pale stones projecting from its top edge and face. Loose earth lies on the trench floor above, and a dark spoil heap sits to the right. A large sloping rock fills the foreground at lower right, and stones and rubble line the trench on the left.
