Description

A dirt road curves between whitewashed houses with barred and shuttered windows, and bare-branched trees stand at the left edge. On the right, a steep cut bank of earth has a spoil heap in front of it, with a long-handled tool leaning against it and a bucket nearby. Seven people sit, stand or crouch on the road, including a man on a low wall beside a wooden chair and two children on the ground, with terraced slopes rising behind.
