Martin Gjerstad at the stairs of the palace at Vouni

Description
A child in a sun hat, shirt and shorts stands barefoot on broad stone steps, carrying a long wooden stick across the shoulders. The steps run diagonally from the lower left, with pale stone treads and dark shadowed risers, and beyond them lie a mound of earth and low walls under a bright sky. A second figure, mostly hidden, is partly visible at the left edge behind the stonework.
