Historian of ancient Cyprus who has published on the royal ideology and foundation myths of the Cypriot kingdoms, above all Salamis under Nicocreon, Teukros and Evagoras I.

Biography

Panos Christodoulou writes on how the kings of ancient Cyprus presented their rule, with Salamis as his main case. In 2009 he published in the Cahiers du Centre d'Études Chypriotes a study of Nicocreon, the last king of Salamis, reading the Argos epigram IG IV, 583 as royal ideological discourse and political power under the new Macedonian order2.

His article of 2014 treats the foundation myths of the Cypriot kingdoms and the return (nostos) of Teukros, and appeared in the same journal, with a paper from the symposium Basileis et Poleis held in Nicosia on 4 and 5 May 20123. In 2019 he contributed a chapter on the refoundation of Salamis by Evagoras I to the volume of the Salamis conference held in Nicosia in May 2015, where he is listed as affiliated with the University of Cyprus and with UMR 8210 ANHIMA in Paris1,4. The same volume cites a further paper of his, then forthcoming, on Aphrodite and the imperialistic policy of Evagoras I1. His date of birth and career are not recorded1.
