Life and work
- 1936Issued a circular asking church authorities in his diocese to stop uncontrolled cleaning and repair of old icons; later circulars (e.g. April 1936) urged local church committees to protect portable antiquities by placing them in safe parts of the churches. The source says these did not always get a response and icons continued to be stolen.
