Life and work
- 1849–1850Named by Caubet as one of the two painters (with Léon Loysel) in F. de Saulcy's expedition, which left Marseille in September 1849 with F. de Saulcy's son Félicien Henri, Edouard Delessert and the abbé J. H. Michon. En route it stopped in Cyprus, where the party collected terracotta figurines and a statue of an offering-bearer holding a small bull, published in 1855 by A. de Longpérier as Phoenician art. Caubet does not say what Belly did on Cyprus.
