Life and work
- 1893Granted substantial funds for Ohnefalsch-Richter's Cyprus fieldwork, after O-R lobbied through a Berlin network (Virchow, Prince Bernhard of Saxe-Meiningen)
- 1894–1895O-R wrote that the excavations in the kingdom of Idalion were 'directly commissioned by his Majesty the Emperor', under Bosse (Secretary of State for Public Instruction), with Furtwängler supervising; the Emperor also allowed 'a considerable sum' for Tamassos und Idalion (planned 1895)
