British photographer, active 1878–1879. Worked at Cyprus (island-wide).
Life and work
- 1878Photographed Cyprus in the autumn of 1878; the photographs were published with commentary in 1879 as Through Cyprus with the Camera, in the Autumn of 1878 (2 vols., London). Salamis of Cyprus (2019) calls the album a locus classicus for the 'colonial gaze' reading of early Cypriot photography and notes that critics (Hajimichael, Papantoniou) stress its promotional agenda toward investors and settlers in the new British colony.
