Life and work
- 1878Lieutenant-Colonel Brackenbury (Royal Artillery), one of the 'Wolseley Ring' of officers Wolseley brought to Cyprus, was appointed Chief Commandant of Military Police and inspector of prisons.
- 1878Sent by Wolseley to the Larnaca court as prosecutor (not witness) at the trial of Alessandro Palma di Cesnola for unauthorised excavation at Enkomi; he cited the 1874 antiquities law, called seven witnesses including Lieutenant Spencer, and asked that the law's penalties apply if the accused could not show a firman.
