Life and work

  1. February 1857
    Naval captain calling at Cyprus ('en relâche') had his crew dig at Idalion; found a mound made only of sherds and figurines, carrying home a large quantity; objects show traces of red colour

  2. 19 May 1869
    Pierre Martin-Rey, who had received the objects from Sicard, gives four pieces to the Lyon museum (inv. X 722)
