Life and work

    Directed a ten-person team of underwater archaeologists and geomorphologists exploring the coastal waters from Maa to the Lara peninsula for six weeks in summer (mission sent by the Institute of Archaeology, University of London).

    Per the Archaeological Reports summary: two bays at Lara explored and pottery deposits planned; more than 30 stone anchors found, plotted, drawn and photographed; an anchorage on the Maniki islet recorded; a shipwreck discovered.

  3. 9 July 1984 – 7 August 1984
    Directed a second season (six archaeologists and a geomorphologist) between Coral Bay and Lara; seismographic study of river valleys completed; coastal profile mapped, with attention to fish tanks as evidence of sea-level change.
