    Discussions with Vassos Karageorghis, together with Dr Otto Werner (Berlin), on the metallurgy of copper smelting helped Karageorghis understand the copper-smelting workshops found at Kition; Karageorghis thanks him in a footnote.

    Joined the staff of the American Expedition to Idalion, described as a trained classicist and student of the history of metallurgy; began with Frank Koucky an extensive survey of evidence for ancient copper smelting in eastern Cyprus.
