Life and work
- 22 May 1957J. R. B. Stewart wrote to Albert Baldwin (note 71, A. H. Baldwin & Sons Ltd archives) about his Lusignan coin interest.
- 1962–1967After Stewart's death (Feb 1962) Baldwin advised the widow Eve on the value and cataloguing of the coin collection (valued it around £25,000 when she was negotiating with the Sydney museum); worried about her delays before Peter Stewart's inheritance in mid-1967.
- 1967–1974A. H. Baldwin & Sons bought J. R. B. Stewart's large coin collection (including his Lusignan coins and the Stavrokono hoard material). In 1974 most of the remainder was offered to the Ashmolean and Fitzwilliam, which could not afford it all; hundreds were sold to private collectors.
