The Cyprus American Archaeological Research Institute (CAARI) in Nicosia is taking applications until 11 January 2027 for its Edgar J. Peltenburg postdoctoral fellowship. The annual award, named in honour of Edgar Peltenburg, funds research on any part of the island's past from its first visitors to the transition to the Iron Age.

Scholars of every nationality may apply if their dissertation is submitted before the deadline and the PhD is awarded by the time the fellowship begins. There is no age limit, but CAARI gives priority to early-career applicants whose doctorates are no more than five years old at the start.

The fellowship runs for nine months and can, exceptionally, be extended by nine more. It carries a US $16,500 stipend, plus up to US $1,500 for travel when the fellow comes from outside Cyprus, and a room in the CAARI residence, where the holder is normally expected to live. The start date falls between 1 March and 30 June. Fellows take part in the institute's life and add research or outreach events to its programme.

Earlier holders have lectured at CAARI on Plain White pottery production at Ayios Sozomenos, ground stone tools and early copper use in 2900–1900 BC, textile production, and old excavation material from Bamboulari tis Koukounninas at Athienou.

Forms are filed through the grant portal of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC), linked from CAARI's fellowships page.
