- 1888New Art Gallery opened in Leeds; the Holmes Collection was perhaps displayed there; Walter Harding was the driving force
- 1892By 1892 the Library Committee had given up the museum, which came under the Art Gallery Committee; its first report itemised the Holmes Collection
