Woollen manufacturer. Lived at Calverley, near Leeds. Bought from Samuel Margerison; left a bequest to Leeds Art Gallery.

Life and work

  1. 1946–1947
    Gave part of his collection of English ceramics to Temple Newsam House in 1946 and bequeathed the rest (Will executed 1947). With it came 20 antiquities, six Cypriote; they stayed unmoved until transferred to the museum in 1988.

    Letter from Hollings to Mr E. Musgrave (Temple Newsam archives) mentions his collection of old Roman glass 'which formerly belonged to Samuel Margerison'.
