- 1997Ankara University and EMU together establish the research centre AKVAM (Arkeoloji ve Kültür Varlıklarını Araştırma Merkezi), focused on Salamis, to support the TRNC Department of Antiquities and Museums.

- 2004A Late Bronze Age bronze hoard is found by hikers at Kral Tepesi/Vasili (Kaleburnu/Galinoporni). They tell EMU's Department of Archaeology and Art History, which informs the TRNC Department of Antiquities and Museums; the hoard is recovered next day. EMU staff member Uwe Müller starts a rescue excavation with a Tübingen team.
