- 1947James Stewart visits Cyprus on his way to a post at the University of Sydney to investigate facilities for his proposed 'Australian Cyprus Expedition' (an earlier, unrealised project, as the sources describe it).
- 1990Short survey season along the Alykos River valley south of Nicosia identifies two dozen sites from prehistoric to medieval, including a presumed Late Bronze Age production and storage centre at Analiondas Palioklichia.

- 1991–1992Excavations begin at Marki-Alonia under David Frankel (La Trobe University) assisted by Jennifer M. Webb; three full seasons completed by 1995; extensive habitation with rebuilding, later southern part Middle Cypriot II with two radiocarbon determinations of probable dates 1835-1730 BC.
