The project
In early July 1962, while cleaning the excavated area of the Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates for his final survey, Professor Robert L. Scranton recovered further fragments of a Hellenistic honorific decree whose upper fragment had been found in 1937. Terence Mitford dates the decree to about 235 B.C.1. David Soren and Jamie James report that blocks Scranton had unearthed were combined with blocks found by the later expedition in reconstructing the temple of Apollo2.
