Dhekelia cantonment: rescue of Late Cypriot tombs
1956 · Dhekelia
A Department of Antiquities rescue in 1956 of several tombs found during construction work at the Dhekelia cantonment.
The project
Several tombs were found in 1956 during construction work at the Dhekelia cantonment, and the Department of Antiquities investigated them thoroughly1. A. H. S. Megaw's annual report says that the cooperation of the military authorities and the assistance of I. M. G. Williams, Commissioner of Larnaca, made the investigation possible1.
