The project
Aristides of Chrysochou conducted a small excavation at Amargeti on behalf of Colonel Warren, which D. G. Hogarth in 1888 placed two years earlier, so about 18861. Hogarth says he found out only later that Aristides and others had found many objects at Amargeti before the occupation, some of which were sold to Beshbesh and wrongly ascribed in di Cesnola's book1. The areas excavated and the results of the excavation are not recorded.
