Description:

Pottery plate in Black Slip Bichrome II ware; wheel-made; shallow body with obliquely ribbed exterior wall; pair of opposing wishbone handles, one now missing except for the stumps; broad ring base running around the edge of the underside; buff clay and slip, except on the exterior walls which are covered in black paint; brown and purple painted decoration: on the underside, lattice-triangles and zig-zags framed by parallel lines around a central arrangement of concentric circles, row of short strokes on the ring base; the interior consists of two series of narrow brown bands divided by a broader band in purple.
