Description

A whitewashed house has a tall arched doorway at ground level and a wooden balcony with a railing above it, reached by an outside flight of stone steps running up the wall. A bare tree with spreading branches stands at right beside a plastered wall, and flagstone paving covers the foreground. A printed caption panel sits below the photograph on a light card mount.

HOUSE IN ATHIENOU "The better class of houses stand within a courtyard and garden, and are furnished with verandahs, supported by light pillars… I dined at the table of an Athienitan, and have seldom been better entertained; the room was small, but clean, and my hostess young and charming." Franz Von Löher-1877 (Cyprus Historical and Descriptive) Mangoian Bros.
