Description

A woman in a white headscarf and dark knitted sweater sits at a wooden loom, working the weft with both hands. Above her hangs a finished textile with diamond and zigzag patterns and fringed ends, and skeins of dark yarn hang from the frame. A metal cup stands on the wooden platform beside the loom.

WEAVING "We visited several of these houses in the populous quarter when we went to see the weaving women working at their home looms, and generally found the loom standing in a large clean paved room or arched gallery, and the delicate tissues growing under the busy shuttle." Mrs. Lewis, 1894. (A Lady´s Impressions of Cyprus.)
