Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Csn0473. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A carved limestone head shown in right-hand profile against a plain grey backdrop, with the neck cut off at the bottom of the frame. The hair is marked with incised lines and is wrapped by a broad band or headdress, with a rounded element above the brow and a mass of curled locks over the ear. The face has an almond-shaped eye, a straight nose and a small mouth, and the surface shows some granular wear.
