Pottery Red Figured Ware (V.294)

Red-figure pottery vessel with a seated bearded figure and a standing figure on a dark ground, key-pattern border below — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C09113a. Public domain (CC0).

Description

Large ovoid vessel on a ring foot, photographed against a pale backdrop. The dark ground carries pale painted figures: a bearded figure sits holding a cup on the left, and a standing figure in a long garment holds a staff on the right. A band of key pattern runs around the lower body, and the surface is flaked and cracked in places.
