Limestone Cypro-Greek I Mersinaki I-II, sculpture (Me. 0866)

Description

Front view of a limestone sculpture head from Mersinaki, with a carved face, heavy-lidded almond eyes and a faint smile. The hair is shaped into a band across the forehead with incised curved strands and leaf-like motifs, falling down beside the ears. The broken neck shows white repair material, and the head rests on a dark cylindrical base at the bottom of the frame; the print sits on a pale card mount.
