Terracotta Minor Plastic 2 (Me.694)

Terracotta head fragment with large eyes, nose and mouth, from Mersinaki — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C05590e. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A small head from a figure, photographed alone against a pale background and tilted slightly to the right. The face has heavy-lidded eyes, a prominent nose and a small mouth, while the top of the head is broken away. The surface is pitted and scratched, and the rough upper edge suggests a lost headdress or hair.
