Terracotta Minor Plastic, sculpture (Me. 0615)

Small head with a wide flat projecting element and wavy hair bands, from Mersinaki — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C05524d. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A small head shown in three-quarter view, with a wide flat element projecting over the top like a brim. Wavy incised bands of hair run across the forehead and down the sides, and the facial features are worn and less distinct. The neck flares out at the base, and the pale, pitted surface is seen in a photograph on a card mount with cut corners.
