Pottery Black Slip Ware, jug (L.702.66)

Black Slip Ware jug with a globular body, tall neck and strap handle — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C05236. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A jug with a rounded, globular body, a tall narrow neck and a flaring, pinched rim. A strap handle rises from the rim and curves down to the shoulder, and a small pierced lug sits on the shoulder below the neck. The dark surface is patchy, with pale areas where the slip has flaked away, and the jug stands alone against a plain grey backdrop.
