Terracotta Cypro-Greek I Mersinaki I-II (Me. 0988)

Head of a sculpture from Mersinaki, with a wreath-like headdress of rounded forms and a broken top — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C04677. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A close view of a sculpted head with heavy-lidded eyes, a full mouth and a broken upper edge. The headdress is built up from rounded, bead-like forms and a twisting band, and the surface is coarse and eroded. The bust's neck is visible below, against a plain light background, and a few blue handwritten marks sit at the upper left.
