Description

Two workers dig in a rock-cut tomb at Marion: a man in a cap kneels at left with a trowel, and a figure in a pale robe bends over with a long-handled spade at centre. A third person stands partly in shadow at upper right, and a metal bucket hangs on a rope at left. Pottery vessels and broken sherds lie in the earth at lower right among digging tools.

Description, scan 2
Two workers in pale clothing dig in the floor of an excavated cut: one kneels at left with a trowel, the other bends over a shovel in the centre. A third person stands faintly in the background against the rock face at upper right. A metal bucket hangs from a rope at left, and several pottery vessels and a long wooden pole lie among soil and baskets at the bottom of the cut.
