Description

Steep sides of pale earth fall into a deep cut where a rope and bucket hang down to a worker bending at the base. Two workers sit on the upper edge, one in a dark head covering beside a basket and one in white beside a bucket, with a shovel leaning on the slope at left. Heaps of loose stone and soil line the edges of the excavation.
