Description

A flight of about a dozen wide stone steps descends between two high retaining walls of dressed stone, leading away from the viewer. Earth banks and scattered stones lie on either side, and a tree with broad leaves overhangs the upper left corner. Beyond the excavation the land falls to a flat coastal area and the sea at the top of the frame.
