Faces and figures from Lapithos Kastros T. 401-429

Three embossed metal plaques showing frontal faces framed by radiating headdresses, from Lapithos Kastros — Photograph: John Lindros, Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C00371. Public domain (CC0).

Description

Three thin, embossed metal plaques are shown against a grey backdrop: two side by side at the top and a larger one centred below. Each carries a raised frontal face within a fan of ridged lines that look like a headdress, with stacked forms suggesting shoulders and a body beneath. The edges are torn and crumpled, and the surfaces are creased and worn.
