The printed text of the album is on the versos facing its photographs, in eighteen sections. After the binding and title page come a short account of the island's position and size, an outline of its history, and a survey of the kinds of Cypriot antiquity, written by the excavator in the first person, with notes on finds such as the statue fragments near the temple of Apollo at Kourion. A review of the collection reprinted from The Athenaeum of 26 June 1880 records, on fol. 21v, that the excavations were paid for by Edwin H. Lawrence. Letters of 1880 and 1881 follow, from Ernest Renan, Samuel Birch, A. H. Sayce, J. R. Herbert, the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres, W. E. Gladstone and Charles Dilke. The last sections deal with burial urns and inscribed vases from tombs near Kition, Famagusta and Tymbou, a verse epitaph from Salamis, the lamps, a table of the Cypriot syllabary, and copies of inscriptions with readings by Sayce.
