Lawrence-Cesnola Collection. Cyprus Antiquities excavated by Major Alexander Palma di Cesnola, 1876 to 1879 (London 1881) is a short illustrated account of the finds made by Alexander Palma di Cesnola, brother of Luigi Palma di Cesnola, who excavated in Cyprus from 1876 with money advanced by Edwin H. Lawrence, as he records in the preface to Salaminia. It was printed in London by W. Holmes & Son.

Cesnola opens with a description of the island, a history of ancient Cyprus and an essay on Cypriote antiquities by class, from pottery, terracottas and stone sculpture to glass, metalwork, jewellery, gems and coins. Reprinted notices follow, from The Athenaeum of 26 June 1880 and the Academy of 27 November 1880, and letters on the collection from A. H. Sayce, Ernest Renan (in French) and others. Shorter sections treat cinerary urns, lamps, a sepulchral marble tablet from Salamis, the Cypriote syllabary and an inscribed stone fragment from Paphos, and the book closes with plates. The French pages are shown with our English translation. His fuller account is Salaminia.
