- 1812Attached to the staff of Sir Robert Liston, ambassador to the Porte, on a mission to speed the Porte-Russia peace; the treaty was already signed, and Turner obtained permission to travel instead.

- 22 March 1815Sighted Cyprus on 22 March 1815 after leaving Constantinople on 20 February; left Larnaca for Syria and Palestine the same day, returned to Larnaca on 3 October and sailed for Rhodes on 16 November.

- October 1815Toured the south-west: reached Hieros Kypos (Hierokepis) where Signor Andrea, an old Zantiote and English consular agent for Baffo, put him up; saw the rock-cut caves/tombs near Paphos; on 23 October walked the ruins of Kouklia and noted two Greek inscriptions (CIG 2637, a coarse black stone in a church wall; CIG 3639, grey granite of Roman date, in a ruined church).
