    Became Acting Governor while Governor Palmer was on leave (Palmer returned only on 17 October).

  2. 2 August 1935
    Summoned the Director of Antiquities John Hilton to Troodos and, with Acting Colonial Secretary Andrew Wright present, told him in a roughly three-minute meeting that his appointment was terminated ('a lack of administrative capacity...'); Hilton could 'resign' or 'retire'. A telegram from the Secretary of State on 29 July had settled the matter after Palmer's talks in London.
