Life and work

    Assisted Max Ohnefalsch-Richter, Superintendent of Excavations, in the excavation and plan of the Aphrodite sanctuary at Dali (Idalion), February to April. Plate VII: 'excavated and recorded by Max Ohnefalsch-Richter ... (February-April). Mr. Sotherland, Royal English Engineer and Surveyor to the Government, assisted.' The ground-plan legend dates the work '1886, February to April'; the main text (p. 5 and list No. 3) says the temenos was excavated in 1885.
