Life and work
- 1882Named (as E. Bouvill / E. Bovill) among the elected members of the first Cyprus Museum Committee, formed after the petition of 15 June 1882 to High Commissioner Sir Robert Biddulph; Stylianou-Lambert & Bounia place him with C. Cobham, S. Brown, W. Corby and H. H. Kitchener among the representatives of government interests.

- 1888Per Ohnefalsch-Richter, the Museum Council at Nicosia, 'with Sir Elliott Bowill, the Lord Chief Justice, the Archbishop and the Kadi at their head', asked that he be sent as representative of the government and the Island Museum to the Cyprus Exploration Fund excavations; the government refused and named Hogarth inspector instead. Ohnefalsch-Richter's own account.
