    On the Pory property at western Larnaca a subterranean chamber was found full of figurines and terracotta lamps (Mariti's inference: a workshop or shop). Because the Turkish government forbade excavations, the Pory family, fearing risk if they let the curious search there, had it filled with earth again; its position was known afterwards only to a few.

  2. 1760s
    Owned the largest house in Larnaca (formerly that of Mr Tredues, English consul): a hall for 500 persons, tapestries, pictures, stabling for 50 horses.
