- 1782As British consul showed Domenico Sestini the ruins of Kition 'between Larnaca and the Borgo delle Saline' and made known to him the inscriptions Sestini first published.

- 1782Acquired two or three of the Kition inscribed stones for his then protector Robert Ainslie, British ambassador at Constantinople 1776-1792.

- 1792Died at Larnaca aged 51; buried in the little graveyard next to St Lazarus' church.

- 1804His notes on Aleppo and Cyprus, translated into German by his widow's second husband D. Gottlieb Harles, were published in Sprengel's Reisebeschreibungen, vol. 12, pp. 63-86; Cobham restored them to English.
