Life and work
- 1886One of three Englishmen (Christian, J. W. Williamson, E. Foot) whom Ohnefalsch-Richter trained in his excavation and recording methods and who worked with him at Marion-Arsinoe. Ohnefalsch-Richter gave the open-air direction to Williamson, who had the assistance of 'young Christian' as long as he was alive, and of Foot.

- 1886Died during the excavation at Poli of an insidious fever 'of a kind hitherto unknown in Cyprus', dead in less than twenty-four hours after the first attack; the district doctor arrived only when all was over.
