Life and work

    Supplied Mitford with comments on the Egyptian hieroglyphic inscription on a bronze Saite situla (No. 15; Cyprus Museum Inv. 1954/IX-4/1/M 51) from the Archaic Precinct of the Sanctuary of Apollo, Kourion (found 27 March 1937 in the University Museum excavations). He reads it 'May Isis give life (to) Shepenamun the son of Psamtek' and dates the vessel to the 26th (Saite) Dynasty, 663-525 BC.
