History
- 1869–1870According to Cesnola, the Vali of the Dardanelles, Ahmet Kaiserli Pasha, visited Cyprus on a man of war, saw his antiquities and asked whether he would give some to the government. Cesnola sent two cases aboard for the Constantinople museum; they stopped at the Dardanelles and, in his words, disappeared.
