History

  1. 1899
    Cypriot antiquities came to the museum from the estate (Nachlass) of Ferdinand Dümmler, who had visited Cyprus in 1885; his purchases from the local art trade went to Kassel from his estate in 1899, while an earlier gift of 1896 went to the Berlin Museum für Vor- und Frühgeschichte.

  2. 1926
    Cypriot pieces acquired through the mediation of Seelig from the estate of Mühlmann. Recke notes that Dresden and Kassel only enlarged their Cypriot holdings again in 1926, after the break of the post-war inflation years.
