- 1844–1882Aimé Péretié, first dragoman and chancellor of the consulate from 1844, excavated, bought and sold antiquities from Lebanon, Syria and Cyprus alongside the post, supplying Louis de Clercq among others. Objects from Cyprus were brought to him at Beirut.
