The project
In 1960 Kyriakos Nicolaou partly investigated, for the Department of Antiquities, building remains exposed by levelling in a field north of a town near the Morphou-Myrtou road1. The building, considered probably a temple, had three rooms, one paved with slabs, and three cisterns; the lower sections of the walls were lined with marble slabs and painted stucco1. The levelling disturbed a fragment of a sandstone pillar and a fragmentary marble statuette of Aphrodite1. Dikaios, whose Archaeology in Cyprus, 1959–61 reports the work, says the building may belong to a complex like the Temples of Isis-Aphrodite at Soloi1.

Levelling exposed a probable temple: three rooms (one slab-paved), three cisterns, marble- and stucco-lined walls, a sandstone pillar and a marble Aphrodite statuette, possibly akin to the Soloi temples of Isis-Aphrodite.
